Newland Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is located on the east side of the south section of Weiwu Avenue, Changge Industrial Cluster Area, Xuchang City, Henan Province. Founded in September 2005, the company is mainly engaged in the R&D, production and sales of pharmaceutical intermediates, APIs and chemical pharmaceutical preparations. The company covers a total area of approximately 100,000 m², with 707 employees. Production workshops operate on a three-shift system, with 8 hours per shift and 330 working days per year, while the engineering laboratory operates on a single 8-hour shift, working 312 days per year.

  Newland Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is a globally important producer of L-p-hydroxyphenylglycine, a synthetic side chain of amoxicillin, and has led or participated in the formulation of industry standards for products including L-p-hydroxyphenylglycine and p-toluenesulfonic acid. It is one of the second batch of "Specialized, Refined, Differentiated and Innovative" (SRDI) enterprises in Henan Province, and has obtained drug production licenses for lidocaine hydrochloride, naphazoline hydrochloride and vildagliptin. On November 16, 2022, the company completed its initial public offering and was successfully listed on the ChiNext board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

  On February 24, 2023, the Department of Ecology and Environment of Henan Province issued the "Notice of the Office of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Henan Province on Announcing the List of Enterprises Implementing Cleaner Production Audits in Henan Province in 2023" (Yuhuanban [2023] No. 11), and Newland Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was included in the list of enterprises subject to compulsory cleaner production audits. Upon receipt of the notice, in accordance with the Cleaner Production Promotion Law of the People's Republic of China (Revised), the "Implementation Rules for Cleaner Production Audits in Henan Province" (Yufagaihuanzi [2018] No. 161), and the "Notice of the Xuchang Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment on Carrying Out the 2022 Compulsory Cleaner Production Audit Work," the company launched its cleaner production audit in March 2023, and on March 17, 2023, published a pre-audit public notice of its environmental information on the official website of Newland Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. ([http://www.xtdph.com](http://www.xtdph.com)). This audit is the company's second round of cleaner production audit. The round went through seven stages: audit preparation, pre-audit, audit, generation and screening of solutions, feasibility analysis, solution implementation, and continuous cleaner production. On May 20, 2023, the project passed the technical review of the cleaner production audit evaluation organized by the Changge Sub-Bureau of the Xuchang Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, and in September 2023, the round was fully completed, with the cleaner production audit acceptance report compiled.

  The focus of this audit was the D-acid workshop. Through on-site investigation and data analysis, a total of 32 feasible cleaner production solutions were screened and compiled across the plant, including 29 no-cost/low-cost solutions and 3 medium/high-cost solutions: F5 (optimization of the recovery method of the mixed acid mother liquor), F13 (upgrading of filters in the D-acid workshop) and F14 (upgrading of evaporators and heat exchangers in the D-acid workshop). To date, all 32 solutions have been fully implemented. After implementation, the solutions save 590,400 kWh/a of electricity, 12,800 t/a of water, and 5,898.9 t/a of steam, reduce VOCs emissions by 1.19 t/a, COD emissions by 1.586 t/a, and NH3-N emissions by 0.059 t/a. With a total investment of RMB 2,019,610, the solutions have achieved economic benefits of RMB 4,435,540, yielding notable economic and environmental results.

  In the continuous cleaner production stage, the company has carefully summarized the experience and shortcomings of this round of cleaner production audit, and decided to establish a continuous cleaner production audit body to carry out deeper cleaner production audit work and achieve greater economic and environmental benefits.
